New Wireless Modem, not HM!

I had to get a new modem, so I went with a new wireless from my provider, cause my old desktop which was acting as my access died. Now I can't connect to my heatmeter, I followed the hints listed here, even started with SD formatted and new flash. I get an IP addy on the heatmeter but nothing else.........no connection to my wireless, can't bring up 192.168.200.1 in a page, nothing shows at all on heatmeter.com. I'm at a loss. Also followed the easy wireless setup config listed here.

modem > zyxtel VSG1432-B101

Try doing a "Reset config" from the HeaterMeter device menus which will put it back to AP mode. At that point either edit config.txt on the SD card with your wifi settings, or go through the webui to reconnect it to your new router.

did reset, edited config, get ip addy on lcd but can't bring up its page.
tried going through webui but when I type in the 192.168.200.1 no page comes up.
even with hm showing ip the heatmeter.com/devises list nothing found

If you did the edit of the config.txt file then it will not default to having AP mode (iirc).

To help, let's separate the the scenarios.

#1: The HM (actually the Linkmeter software running on the RPi) is in AP mode and you connect to it via a laptop/computer in order to configure it. You must have your computer see and join the Heatermeter SSID (i.e. it is operating as an Access Point). That is when the IP address you refer to works. Then you follow the wifi configuration shown in the wiki.

#2: You cannot get the HM to successfully join your home network via the new modem/router/wifi combo unit you have. You could follow Bryan's instructions and make sure the device is reset. Then you could edit the config.txt file on your computer so that it has the correct settings for your new zyxtel AP. In this scenario the HM will get some IP address via DHCP from the access point. You could log into the management pages of the modem/router and find out what address it gave to the HM then use that in your browser. Most likely the IP address will be in the 192.168.1.[2-253] range.

Hopefully this helps. I think you are mixing two different expectations.

Back in business!!!!! had to reset modem earlier and now we see the HM...........Thanks all for your help!!
should add, we changed the channel modem was on incase of conflict with neighbours, soon as I did that got a new IP on HM and boom it connected!

Nice! I'll tell you, consumer wireless routers may get new features, more bands, and higher speeds than they did 15 years ago, but they're still bafflingly fickle with how sometimes they *just* *won't* *work* right.

+1 to that comment. Some brands do that better/worse than others but none are flawless.
