So I only found out about Hetermeter 2 weeks ago and got my kit for Father's day. Haven't even put it together yet, but I've studied the instructions thoroughly in anticipation. I hadn't planned on using a servo, because I didn't even know I could use one until yesterday. Now I'm interested though. I'd love the see this thing in the open position, to see how big the air vent is. I am a woodworker, and I'd like to come up with some sort of wooden design that attached to my Green Egg with a rubber hose, similar to the pitmasteriq.

Chris, ambitious for sure. If I were you, I'd get atleast 3-5 cooks in before starting to mess with dampers and servos.

That's of course assuming that on your rig, that rigging a fan up is easy and doesnt require enough time to justify putting a servo+damper in already. Get to know your device, how to operate without a damper.

Heck, you might even be surprised to find that you won't need one. If I had to guess, less than half of HM owners have one. I'm looking into getting a RotoDamper3 from Ralph sometime later this summer, but so far my WSM has been easy to control with the HM on a simple Auber fan.

Wow, that's quite clever, Marco. I never thought about doing it like that but that's really all that needs to be done isn't it? Thanks for sharing!
