New Performer Owner

Just picked up a Crate and Barrel edition Performer. Can't wait to use it. Setup was a breeze and everything fit together well, except for the vent on the lid. It seems to have some gap around the edges, so it's not really flush against the holes. What I mean is, the vent seems to be somewhat flat and not concave/rounded around the lid holes. Should this be a concern? I guess maybe I should fire it up first and see if the temp can be controlled with the lid vent. If it can, than there really is no concern. This is my first 22.5, so I'm not sure if it's normal that the lids don't fit as snug as they do on my 18.5's.

Jack,
The vent damper should be snug. I would see if any smoke escapes. You should also be able to snuff out the briquettes by closing the top and bottom vents. If not, I would call Weber and complain. You may get a whole new lid..
Congrats on the new rig! Post some pics when you get it going.

Congrats on the new Performer, Jack. I got mine about a month ago and just went out to check my vent. It looks pretty snug like AJ mentioned. Have fun with your new Performer!
