Well after a long want I broke down and bought a cheap stainless unit, ran a chicken on it last night and it was very good, only put a rub on it, from the moisture and flavor no injection needed, will post a picture from my phone.

Good looking bird! If you want crisper skin I suggest you try dry brining it.

Hi Everyone. I'm about to cook a rotisserie chicken today, and want to know what you guys do in order to get the skin super crispy. In the past, I have used the Roadside Chicken method which works good, but what ingredient in particular helps crisp the skin over the course of the rotisserie cook?

Lately, I have been brining the chickens about half an hour then putting some Adobo on the outside, truss and spin. The skin does not crisp up that well using this technique.

What can I put on this bird to crisp the skin up nice?

As long as the ring fits your kettle cheap is fine. I bought a universal roti ring, supposed to fit for kettles with OD from 21.5" to 22.5". The kettle I planned to use it on had an OD of 22". Luckily I've got a Weber 22" because it didn't fit the other kettle. Looks like prices are dropping on them so $70 is just the low end of the current range.
