My 13 year old Summit Platinum D6 with all its stainless glory has served me well. Stainless Cart and all panels.
Lid bolts rusted off that hold the heat shield but other than a bit wobbly it works fine.
Cast Aluminum cook box has two porcelain panels are eroding. I figure the grill had a few years left and if it was a 15 year grill, so be it. Been a great performer.
Saw somone on this site restored one. Inspired I pull out the file and read the warranty for the box and lid was 25 years! Called them up, gave them the serial number and in 5 min they confirmed shipping on both parts. This grill was their top of the line until 2006. MSRP was $2200 I believe but given it was not selling well according to the dealer becaue of the Plastic knobs and porcelain control panel, they had it on sale for $1550. It did not look as good as the new model but price matters. I looked up the replacement parts coming to me and they were still available bu tfor $1525. LIkely I will still have to buy some parts as it makes no sense to not put in new ignighters and some hardware but with some labor the grill will no doubt last the full 25 years. Massive kudo's to Weber for standing behind. They had the parts in stock which made all the difference.

Gary - thanks for sharing the story! I'm amazed by the number of people on the forum who are dedicated to restoring the older gas grills, makes me wish I would have hung on to my old Silver B for sure. Weber's customer service is pretty awesome. I haven't had much need for parts, but I think this is definitely one of the top 5 reasons to fly the Weber flag.
