Mold in less than a week - sharing some observations.

I had a short break in the weather today and I uncovered and opened all the grills so they could air out and the covers dry out a little.

All had varying levels of moisture on the outside. Some had better protection under the covered patio and some were getting most of the rain on them.

Two had mold.

Which ones? ....... The ones I don't use enough.

A 2002 one touch platinum has been waiting for a friend to collect and it was not covered. It was pretty wet inside and out a few days ago. I removed the lower part of the ash collector that was full of water a few days back. I guess the temps and moisture was a nice incubator. It is going out into the rain with the lid off and I'm hoping two inches of downpour will clean it up nicely.

The other was my Genesis 1000. It's been idle for a couple of months, and some early spots of mold were clinging to the grates. This had two covers over it and was pretty dry inside, but again the fairly warm and dark and humid conditions along with some remaining food not burnt off must have been enough to incubate some mold.

The rest had been used recently and most with high temp cooks.

So, my takeaways are:
1. give a grill a good burn off before the rainy season
2. don't leave a cover on for long, even when its rainy
3. thin the herd
