Mail Order Lump Charcoal Experience?

If you have purchased lump charcoal from an online retailer or even just had bags of lump charcoal delivered, have you noticed any differences from store bought?

I was thinking about ordering some for delivery, but have a concern about rough handling breaking down the more desirable larger chunks into the less desirable smaller sizes.

And I know “mail order” is an old expression, but it makes for a cleaner title, lol.

Unfortunately no longer available here at a reasonable price via Amazon etc, but i used to order FOGO and other Brazilian hardwood charcoals (not available in local stores here), and never really had a bad experience...I am sure some got bumped around and beat up, but never to the point where I would not order it again.

Amazon. JD. Slightly more dust but not enough for me to advise not to do it. JD chunks are quite large so the shipping aided in making normal coal pieces. I have often had to break JD pieces as they’re quite large.
