Looking for Rotisserie/Ring Modification Assistance

Many years ago, I used the rotisserie on my Weber kettle. Now, I would like to use it on my CL Performer but have a problem setting it up. My old motor was tossed out and I had acquired another Weber motor for my gasser. Of course, this motor will not fit on my old ring, nor will the old spit.

After looking at new rotisserie set ups in the store, I noticed that the rings are cut out now so that the spit will go on better and of course the motor has a different set up than the one I have.

Thank you George Curtis for your link [url="http://www.clagrills.com/allgr.../acc-rotisseries.htm"]http://www.clagrills.com/allgr.../acc-rotisseries.htm
so that I can get parts but my question would be:
1) Should I try to cut out the side of the ring?
2) Do I cut off the existing motor mount so that I can add the new adapter motor mount?
3) My original spit only extended a couple of inches into the motor mount area and it seemed like the old motor had an extension on it that fit into the spit. The pictured Weber motor above is from my gasser and the spit would be too long for this ring. Do I have to get a new spit to fit the ring?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Steve,
I would give Weber CS a call and order the Motor Bracket. part no. 98100. Cut the old one off and use SS hardware to mount the new one. as for cutting the ring, it will make it easier to use. Your ring must be pretty old. I've had my oldest one for years (15+?)and it has the slot in it from the factory. Good luck and keep us up to date on your progress.

as i'm rather handy and hate spending money i would suggest that you cut down that bracket to fit the newer motor. make sure you cut it down far enough and no further so that when the motor is on the bracket the rotiss rod is centered to the hole. also i would cut out the other end so its easier to install the loaded rotiss. the motor end is not cut out. steven, if yer worried about the collar, i have a spare and can mail it to you. want to see you get this thing going !

Thanks Mac for the schematic. Now I see how the new ones go with the cut out and size of motor mount. Yes, my ring is more than 30 years old and I got it just after I had purchased my red kettle. I think my best way to go now is to go as George suggested and do some cut outs. George, I'm not sure what you a referring to on the collar?
