Keep Cooked Pasta Good

Not sure if anyone has ever done this...............Dad's supposed to be out of rehab Saturday. He's always asking for home cooked meal. I made a nice little batch of marinara from wife's home grown plum tomatoes. He's got a microwave but the rooms at his center don't have a stove. So I would be forced to cook the pasta at home, and simply warm everything there. I would have to cook it here and have a way to keep it warm for about an hour while I drive there and get to his place. Anyone ever done anything like this?

If it's hood...and I'm willing to bet it really is, he's not going to complain that it's not 112 degrees F. I'll bet large sums of money on this.
In a bowl with a lid and in a thermal bag from Aldi or wherever and you'll be good.

cook the pasta slightly less than al dente and sauce it and cover it for its ride. then gently reheat it in the microwave. the reheat will cook the pasta sauce into the pasta. should be just fine for him. if he complains, remind him there's always cafeteria food.

any insulated bag will do for the ride.

Here is what I would do.

Cook the pasta the day before, refrigerate, and take it cold, along with cold sauce.

Cook the pasta very al-dente; drain; add a small amount of sauce with the noodles and let cool and refrigerate. The sauce will soak in a bit and get flavor in the pasta. Just enough sauce to coat.

Take the pasta separate from the sauce.
Reheat the sauce in the microwave until it is really hot.
Reheat the pasta in the microwave with a little water until it is hot.
Add the already hot sauce to the pasta along with grated pecorino romano.

(edited to add clarity)
