How to start a restoration

I'm thinking about restoring (more like repainting and preserving, since it's in pretty good shape now) my Weber redhead grill. I'm wondering what people do to the inside and outside of the grill in preparation? Is pressure washing the inside good enough? How about using a wire wheel to strip the old paint off of the outside of the grill box before repainting? Is sand or media blasting preferred? Just trying to start putting a game plan together and figured I'd ask the guys who have already done this before making the same rookie mistakes others have made.

Warner, is the grill gas or charcoal? There are numerous threads showing restorations. The guys on this site really know how to restore a charcoal grill.
