How do I add a ball valve to my kettle?

Hi Folks,

I want to install a Thermoworks Bellows to my 26" kettle. I'd like to do it by adding a ball valve and using the ball valve adapter to connect in. I figure this way I can easily remove it when not in use and close up the hole easily.

I understand how to make the hole in the kettle and where to make it, what I'm not clear on is how do I attach the ball valve. What piece goes on on the inside of the kettle to screw the ball valve to?

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

I would personally go with a Spider Viper but This may help. You can always use a plug for when not in use.

The Venom is an interesting option.
You can order one of the plugs Weber uses in the WSK and just drill a hole.
You can also add a bulkhead fitting of some kind but everything I looked at for you had a rubber gasket on each side. the one’s with no gasket would probably damage the bowl.
