This came from our local newspaper many years ago. I don't know if they are still around. "Cheap Thrills Cuisine" by Lombardo & Bui - in cartoon form. I will type it like they have it. We made it 2-9-97 and used it on ribs and gave it a Very Good!!!
Hot Cinnamon BBQ Sauce
Cook covered, on low heat, in 1 TB. oil for 5 minutes:
1 chopped onion
1 diced garlic clove
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. crushed peppercorns
2-3 sprigs cilantro
Puree in food processor with:
1 TB. oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1 TB. soy sauce
1 tsp. tomato paste
1 1/2 cups ketchup
Transfer to sauce pan and mix in:
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. hot sauce
Heat through then turn off.
Adjust seasoning with hot sauce or cinnamon.
Use as baste for ribs, lamb or chicken.
Yield: 2 cups
