HM Remote Phone Battery Consumption

I apologize if this has been asked/posted already. I used the search but didn't find any matches...

I was curious when using a HM and monitoring your temps, how is the battery consumption on your iPhone/Android device. I don't own an HM yet so I don't know if sampling/reporting intervals can be modified.

Using the PitDroid app, I haven't seen much of a battery drain.
In settings, the background update time can be configured to intervals of 1 to 30 minutes.
