Hello from Minnesota! I stumbled across the forum when searching for guides on restoring/rehabbing the Silver B I pricked up on FBM recently. My dad got a Silver B new from Home Depot when I was a kid, and it’s still going strong. I recently moved my family back home to Minnesota and was on the hunt for a grill that wouldn’t break the bank so I kept my eyes peeled for a decent used Genesis.
I found my new-to-me Silver B and loved the look of the green lid and dual flip tables. The (maybe original) stamped steel grates were falling apart and the crossover tube and middle burner were half rusted through, but the rest was in solid condition for $50. I’ve already purchased grates and new burners (local Ace Hardware had Weber parts available and they were half off when I went in!), and will likely be doing a piecemeal deep clean/repaint of the frame, cookbox and lid end caps when I’ve got time. Loving the how-to posts, and getting inspiration from all the restorations y’all show off here.
