I'm trying to get the one touch system off of my 1997 Mastertouch and I cannot get it off due to rust. Any suggestions short using a dremel or having my cousin take it off at the body shop. I already have the new one but I need to get the old one off. I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you.

Try soaking it over night with some break free type stuff. There's a variety of options and brands at any auto store. The stuff is amazing and has gotten off nuts and bolts that I was certain were gonners.

Spray it good with WD40 and take a hammer and either a phillips screwdriver or hole punch and knock and twist the damper handle out. I also use a channel lock for the damper handle. You can also take a sawzall/sabersaw and cut the whole bottom off below the damper handle. Two options I have used.

Over the years I've replaced two one touch systems in my kettles...I tried everything imaginable to get them out. Ended up using a Dremel tool both times. As a matter of fact, I didn't have a Dremel tool and bought it specifically for the time I replaced the first one.

You've got the new one, you aren't going to reuse the old one. Cut that sucka out...

Second what Don said.

I'd have to call him but I think he has told me brake parts cleaner works miracles but unless you had it on had, do what Don said

Seiously from my above post... and what others said.. soak in with any true break free product and let it sit. Repeat a few times... it'll comes loose.

I use an angle grinder to cut both ends of the shaft off. That's what holds the nut from going thru the washer. Cutting it off takes less than a minute with the grinder. They cost about $40 though, so unless you have a need for one, it's not cost effective for you. But your buddy with the auto body shop will have one, no doubt. See if he'll clip it off for you.
