I’m a long time Weber owner. I had an 18” kettle for years over 20 years ago, then an early Genesis from 2002 until 2013, when I got a Genesis II. I wore it out after we got to Florida from West Virginia in 2019, now I have a 4-burner Genesis that I got in April 2021 - and I need to break it down for a thorough scrub!
My new adventure is a Weber Smokey Mountain 14.5”. It’s just my husband and I, so I didn’t think I needed anything bigger. I did some dandy stuffed, bacon wrapped jalapeños as a test drive. They turned out great! I tried baby back ribs next, and tried the Minion method of lighting, and it never came up to smoking temp. I had to smoke them on the gas grill. I was disappointed with the outcome (and before, I’ve had good results with smoking on the gas grill). Right now, I’m sticking to the Weber instructions until I get used to the WSM.
