Hi everyone. Happy to be a part of this community. I've been researching vintage weber grills for a while and I was able to pick up this beauty tonight for free. What do you think? What can you tell me about this?
From what I've found I think it's an early 90's Genesis 5000. I'm going to start the tear down this weekend. If you're interested I will post my progress.
Thank all.20240610_192028.jpg20240610_191941.jpg20240610_191931.jpg20240610_191927.jpg

Wow nice score ! And for free ?!?! Yea thats a 5000 . I love that Burgundy pinstripe lid.

Do you have the 3rd door ?

There was a grey lid just like it by me and the lady put iit on marketplace and said it was at the curb ! I reasoned with her for an hour to bring it back in the garage and I would pick it up in a few days and by the time she finally agreed someone grabbed it ... uggh

Welcome Bradley, that's a very nice looking grill. I love the Platinum series lids and you don't see too many burgundy. The serial # sticker is probably on the the side of the control panel or under it. You will find that it's a late '90s Platinum l 3400 series grill, not a 5000. Everyone thinks that if it has glass doors then it's automatically a 5000, not true.

How can you tell the difference Steve? What makes this different from a 5000 ?

I fo have all 3 hlass doors. Just need new hardware and I will clean them up and remount them. I'm hoping I can polish up the lid as I want to keep it original. I haven't seen any rust on it so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the info. That's good to know. The original sticker is gone so I can't find a serial number.

If you didnt do this already, you have to lift off the side burner, comes off just like the side table would, and its on the right side of the frame. You wont see it if you dont pull off that burner.
