Headless HM and blower/damper all in one

I would like to make a headless HM and have it built into the damper/blower, so that all I had to do was pop it onto the smoker and plug in the power and probes. I've searched but haven't found a similar project - if you know of one, please point me to it.

For a headless HM, do I just build it minus the LCD/button board?

Yup, the LCD and buttons are completely optional on the v4.3. If you don't need them then you can ignore them completely.
