Grill lighting problems.

Has anybody had problems with the gas reduction safety feature on a Weber LP grill.
I have a new 470 and of the eight times I have tried to light it the gas reduction safety feature has kicked in six of them.
I went over the lighting instructions in the manual and have called Weber to walk me through it and it still keeps happening.
I was wondering if there was some trick to avoid this from happening.

Turn off the grill and the tank. Disconnect the tank. Reconnect the tank being sure the fitting is screwed all the way in. Open the tank VERY SLOWLY. Now turn on a a burner and light. and continue on. Me? I NEVER turn the tank off (but again that's me). If you're anal about those things NEVER turn the tank off before the grill. Turn the grill off than close the tank valve. When starting again open valve SLOWLY and than begin using grill. If it continues you may have a bad regulator or tank. Or just say F^&K it and convert it to natural gas ;-)

This is what Weber told after I rehabbed a Genesis Redhead (96) and had this problem. They said to turn the tank valve off after I was done cooking and had already turn of the Genesis gas cooking valves. They then said when I was going to cook again, to turn the tank valve on and let it sit for one minute. Then turn on the Genesis valve and light the gas. Using this method, it has worked properly every time with not a single failure. The problem first started after my wife left the Genesis turned on overnight and the tank ran empty of fuel. When I hooked up a different tank, I had hardly any flame. Called Weber about this and was told how to do it and why, and have had no problem since. Good luck.

I located the problem. Apparently I had not shut the side burner off all of the way. With the cover on it closed, i did not even think to check it.
