Anybody use grill grates on top of the regular ones? I know meathead recommends using them on gas grills, but not sure what the benefit would be using them on the 220? thoughts?

I use GrillGrates regularly and contrary to some postings, I feel that they add another dimension to cooking on a gas grill. They even out the heat, prevent flair ups and can be used for a sear or for grillmarks. Easy to clean and they can be moved to a charcoal grill and do a good job on whatever you cook. Amazing Ribs has a review on them as well as ManCave Meals, both are very favorable as to their use and performance. Check out their websites and make your decision. I like mine and use them often. I'm sure other members who also have them will agree with how well they work.

Nothing in that picture or anything described cannot be achieved with absolutely NO trouble without added on gimmickry. Sorry but like I have said if it makes you happy so be it. but if I could ever figure out how to post photos on this board I would post some that would show that. Especially on the "Q" series grills (both gas and electric). They are so simple to get excellent sear marks, flame control and results without added BS

I really like my GrillGrates. Don't knock em until you have tried em. They work well on all of my grills. No BS.

i don't see the need for them but i have no problem for those that do use them and like them. if it works for you then its an awesome product.
