Griddle Insert for My XL 600

I have a Weber propane 28" griddle with about 500 in2 of cook area. I would like to get rid of it and get an insert for the XL 600. The insert Weber recommends is P/N 6787 but it's cook area is only around 390 in2. I can't go down on area due our cooking needs. I found Weber has a larger insert P/N 6789 for the 4-burner gas grill that has about 600 in2 cook area - perfect! But, the width of it is 18.67" and the smaller one is 17.29".

I have read that some XL 600 owners have used the larger #6789 griddle insert. If you have this insert can you confirm it works or not? Maybe some pics would help if possible.

Thanks - Mike

I came up with an idea for a larger area griddle for the XL 600. If I buy two Weber Crafted griddles I would have the same area as my 28" stand-alone griddle.

I am interested in the griddle insert 6789 also. For my 4-burner Genesis.

Flat Top King on YouTube measured the cooking area. It's only 14 in deep by 32.5 in wide. 455 in squared. 8 minutes 58 second going into the video he measures it.

That's because the first two inches has vent holes and it's not a cooking service. And the rear of the surface has a cutout as if it's a vent for items that might be on a warming rack above the griddle.
