Grate play

I have a Silver A and B for many years and the one thing that’s annoyed me is the amount of play with the grates where if your not careful, you can always loose a chicken wing down the center.

Any ideas out there on keeping them together. I was going to use some ground wire from electric cable to tie the two together but I know that will be just as annoying as it won’t be easy to lift out anymore to clean below.
Any suggestions or ideas appreciated.

You could use a U shaped bracket from above. Just pull out the bracket and pull up the cooking grid to clean.

I would not use a wedge. You have different metals that expand and contract at different rates.

You can drill and put two bolts on the side of the firebox to close the gap, so the two grates would not separate.
