Going to attempt my first Weber restoration!

I bought this Weber spirit 700 from a guy on fb marketplace about 2 years ago. I have been using it since then with no major mantience. The only thing I did was replace the flavorizer bars with 16 gauge stainless ones from Amazon and degrease the gas valves. It ended up costing me $40 with a full propane tank, and tools. It doesn’t have the flip up side table but that’s ok. It cooks great and I plan to keep it as long as I can (I’m 25). With this in mind, I want to fix the minor issues and I believe this forum is extremely knowledgeable in this

What I want to do (ranked in importance) -
-Replace the three gas knobs (already ordered)

-repaint the sides, and the firebox

-replace the two plastic clips that hold on the right instruction plate

-make a wooden side table out of rcplanes z brackets and wooden planks to replace the crappy, melted plastic table

-replace plastic handle with wooden

I will be updated this thread everytime I do one of these changes

Questions-
Should I use paint stripper or a wire wheel on a drill to strip the old paint?

Would you recommend replacing the side plastic table?

How can I acquire the parts to *maybe* make a flip up table

What's nice is you have the bottom wire rack which is sometimes missing on that find.
that’s good to hear. But I don’t really use it lol. But at least I have it. I initially thought it was a warming rack. A warming rack on this grill is kind of crazy anyways because it’s not a huge grill

Chris, do you have the hardware for the left swing out table. I know you wanted to do something in wood. That hardware maybe hard to find.
I don’t. The only thing is that piece of plastic that extends from the frame. There is no hardware other than that :(

Honestly. The plastic table that’s on the side is so small and ALWAYS falls off when I put my cover on. It’s such a dinky design. I was thinking of just changing this table for wood for these reasons. So maybe a fold out table isn’t necessary especially if it’s hard to find the parts

Just find a junk grill that has a flip up table and scavenge the necessary parts from it.
