Getting to 325 F on a Genesis CEP-330

I purchased a Genesis CEP-330, a ThermoWorks ChefAlarm http://www.thermoworks.com/products/alarm/chefalarm.html and an ambient probe.
One of the Web sites that I visited suggested calibrating the BBQ to different temperatures such as 225 F with indirect and 325 F with direct heating.
The ChefAlarm with the ambient probe seems to be fine before lighting the BBQ - it is about 45 F here (Toronto, Ontario, Canada).
However, when only one of the three burners is lit (left) and set to the lowest possible heat - the ambient temperature when measured by the thermometer is actually slightly over 325 F.
The probe is attached to the grill using the included clip.
Does it seem correct that the temperature is really about 325 F with just one burner of the three turned to its lowest setting or is something wrong with the thermometer?
Thank you in advance.
