German Mustard

My second career required extensive European travel...probably 75% to Germany. I love most German food but really love their mustard. While this one is great, their(Lowensenf) Extra Hot in the tube is outstanding. I've had it in the jar as several stores sell it but I've not yet seen the extra hot in the tube anywhere. But finding the medium in the tube is encouraging.20230313_185338.jpg

Haha, internet says it's at my local Safeway two miles away - the extra hot. It's in a jar 9.3 ounces for $5.29 in stock

Yeah...the jar is good stuff but somehow the Extra Hot in the tube beats the jar. But if you like good mustard give the jar a try, it's good stuff.

Amazon has the tubes of extra hot but very expensive compared to buying it in jars from your local grocery store. You say the mustard in the tube tastes better? I believe you, non glass containers seem to change the taste of beer, pop, etc.

I don't know but I have a pretty high tolerance to spice, heat, wasabi/horseradish type stuff and I remember excitedly cracking open the jar of the stuff and putting it on a dog and feeling kind of disappointed that it didn't have the same kick as the tube stuff did. One of my German buddies used to send me a Christmas "care package" of assorted German stuff I liked...Tchibo coffee, some tubes of Lowensenf Extra, a Christollen or two, a few Ritter Sports...I can find some stuff at Aldi and Lidl that's the real deal or darn close.
