Found a nice, lightly-used Genesis Silver at an estate sale (Paid $118). Got some tools, a Grill Basket, a tank, & a cover with it - no rust, just a little grease.

3-burner, Black
Porcelain-coated flavorizer bars
Porcelain-coated, stamped steel grates
Fold-down (Grey, plastic) shelf on one side
Controls on other side
Open-Frame Cart
About 2004 Model?

The trick is - I don't have a truck.
I'm picking it up tomorrow, and will take tools:

MY QUESTION:
What's the quickest way to carefully knock-down this grill into 2 or 3 large "chunks" that will fit into my large car?

She's nothing fancy - but it's all there and in good shape / no rust.

The top lid is held on by a couple of pins that should be easily pulled (and can be re-inserted later ;-) by hand w/o tools. On my Genesis silver B, iirc, bottom and the cart are bolted (nuts and bolts) together and needs tools.

Good luck and congrats!

Checked the Weber website and found a similar parts drawing.

Not sure it's my exact model (didn't write-down plate info - that'll come tomorrow - oops!)

It looks like most of the carts can have the lower part of the legs removed with a bolt thru each. My guess is that if I do this, and then remove the lid from the housing, the three remaining sections should be manageable:

-Lid
-Lower housing / controls / burners / cart top
-cart legs, axles, & wheels

Am I on the right track for a quick break-down, grab, & GO?

I remove the hairpin cotters from the lid pins, remove the lid and store the flavorizer bars, grease pan assembly, grates etc. in the lid and the rest of the grill fits easily in the back of my CRV.

I transported a Genesis Silver in my CRV last weekend. I took off only the tray and handle on the left side.

Well, I got her apart and into my beater Buick:
-Tank & lower housing / upper cart in trunk
-Lower Cart in back seat
-Upper housing & grease catcher in front seat

Before I disassembled it, I tried to fire her up. Caught on the first click! All three burners ignited when I turned-on the gas.

RE: AGE OF GRILL?:
When did Weber start using the newer-style gas valve? Mine is the older style - with a left-hand threat that screws into the inside of the LP Tank gas valve. (Looks like I'm going to have to swap-out the hose / regulator & the tank. I still have my tank from my old grill.)

So, my new "shopping list":
-New Gas Line
-New Grates (eventually) Raw Cast Iron or SS Rods
-Rotisserie
