Genesis Gold Cart compatible with Genesis 1000 LX

Hi,
Is the newer Genesis Gold Cart compatible with a Genesis 1000 LX.
I would like to swap to a wider cart and have a side burner...just found a Genesis Gold for $40

I don't think so as the fire box is a different size plus the manifold has different spacing. NOt saying it would be impossible for an inventive type but it's not a direct swap
