gas grill on a covered deck...clearance question

I've got a Genesis Silver B that I am wanting to use on my deck when it is raining. It is an open sided deck so ventilation isn't a problem but it is covered with plastic sheets (they kinda look like a plastic version of metal roofing material). Do you think the heat would be too much and I'd be at risk of melting or warping them or would I be ok. I'd say there is at least 4-5 of clearance at the lowest point and maybe 6 at the highest point.

Anyone else keep their grill under something similar or have any advice??

If the panels are FRP- fiber reinforced panels, than you should be fine as far as heat.
But if they are Polycarbonate panels, I would advise you not to do it. Poly is only rated on the top side, not the bottom.

The good thing about rain is that it is generally accompanied by a breeze (or a gale) I have both Poly Carbonate and metal over my Outdoor Decking. I situate the genesis/performer/Q220 so that it/they are on the opposite end to the prevailing wind and cfook away. The breeze blows away the cooking smells, greasy exhaust and keeps the roof cool. No problems, I have been doing this for 10 or more years.

Cheers

they are just clear plastic panels, its definitely breezy and open air on it. good thing I still got some time to figure this one out. most of the time I just fire up the charcoal grill but I'm tired of dealing with my go anywhere gasser when I its pouring. its too tiny and the burner blows out to often.

thanks for the tips!!
