Hi all

been a Weber fan for years and currently enjoying cooks from a Performer charcoal kettle. Love tnrowing a few wood chunks on the coals to get some wonderful smokey cooks.
I am toying replacing our 26 yo gas bbq with a new Genesis 4 burner, however they’ve just releases the new SmokeFire here so really keen on this as a potential replacement instead. Decisions!

Hi Matty - welcome to the forum and greetings from St. Louis MO USA. The genesis 4 burner will be a very reliable grill for you. I have a had genesis 3 burner for at least 10 years and really enjoy using it. Since you already have a charcoal grill and can do the smokey cooks, you may want to stay away from the Smokefire. That grill received a lot of bad press and reviews when it was introduced in the USA. Weber may have gotten many of the bugs worked out, but I still see it as an expensive grill that may not do everything it's advertised for.

Welcome to the board Matty. I am also new here and have been reading posts for a while before that. I am a current Pellet Grill owner, I have a Traeger but it is a fair bit older. Now I do not know a lot about the new Weber product but I can give you some insight as to owning a pellet grill. First I would confidently tell you that my Broil king propane does not cook the same food or anything else the same as the Traeger pellet. While the pellet I have can achieve around 450 max temp, I think the new ones maybe can do hotter but keep in mind the pellet works like an oven full of smoke lol. If you like grill marks on your burgers as well as a lot of other things only hot grates can get you then I wouldn't use it as a replacement personally. My Broil king is older and I was in the market to replace it and I did so this week with a Weber Performer Premium. I still plan on keeping my pellet grill as it does it's own thing. With the ability to smoke at 180 I can do things on that machine that no other units I have can do. I hope that makes sense, feel free to ask anything regarding regarding pellet smoking.
