Finished my mods for the 1985, 18.5 WSM.
Wheels, new door, 14" clay saucer, extra end bars on the charcoal grate with 2 handles, elec pipe nipple for remote thermometer probes, new nylon handle for the lid, made 2 handles out of 1/2" flat bars for middle section.

That is a nice setup you have made for yourself. Would you mind telling me how you were able to acquire the Weber handles. I would like to add a couple for my 22.5. Thanks in advance.
 
I had the 2 nylon handles from some older grills that I had. You can order them from Weber 800-466-1070 or a Weber dealer. Weber also has free shipping until the end of the month. Free shipping code is dad2012
Sears will even order them for you (good luck with sears).
The metal part I just bought a piece of flat bar 1/2" wide, 3' long from Home Depot and bent it in a vise until it fit.
 
I had a BFH to bend it to the correct shape. One was about 3/32 to long for the nylon handle to fit over it. I cut it with a angle grinder cutting blade & welded it back together. Then it fit just right.
