E330 Not reaching max temps

I have a brand new E330 LP. The max temp I can reach is about 450 on the hood thermometer after about 20 mins. Even after 40 mins of preheating with all burners (even the sear burner) on high, I'm only getting 450.

Another clue may be that the flame is not visible at all. I've taken everything out and looked directly at the heating elements while burning and the flame is either so small as to not be visible or it's burning 100% clear. I've read a bit about adjusting the spider screen as it seems like one possibility could be an improper fuel/air mix.

I thought I'd get some input here before proceeding. I wanted to see if I can tweak a thing or two and make the fix before calling Weber.

Thanks

Kevin

Did you buy the grill all put together or did you assemble it? Are you using a new LP tank?

I bought an E-310 two months ago, and it reaches 650 degrees in a little over 10 minutes.

I assembled it myself. The LP tank is new.

I've tried opening the valve very slowly with no change. If the bypass gets triggered, it won't go above 200. Are there additional bypass mechanisms on LP tanks that will decrease the flow incrementally? Or is the bypass either "on" or "off"?

I would contact weber cs, you maybe have a problem with the regulator, it maybe not be receiving sufficient amounts of lp. If its bad they will send a new one under the warranty, I believe that part is covered for 2 years.

Make sure your burner knobs aren't on when opening the LP tank. That's the only thing I know of that without fail will kick in the regulator.

I tried something a lil different. With all knobs off, I opened the LP tank a qtr turn very slowly then lit three burners. I then opened the tank very very slowly over the next 10 mins. After about 15 mins, I got to 550, then fired the sear burner and went to 575. Not great, but far better than before - and it points out that my prior failings were somehow likely user error with the tank.

I would like to get a bit more heat, but my remaining issue is still that there is no visible flame. By all accounts, I should see blue but it's 100% clear. It's almost like there's pure ethanol in the LP tank or something.

again, call weber customer service. that is not working correctly. i always turn on my tank way before i'm ready to light off my gasser.

It's also possible to get a LP tank that has not been properly purged of air even if it's new. The result can be what you have described.

Good Luck!
