I lifted this off the net.

Dry Adobo Powder
Adobo Seco

Makes 1 cup
6 tablespoons salt
3 tablespoons onion powder
3 tablespoons garlic powder
3 tablespoons ground black pepper
1 ½ teaspoons ground oregano
Place all ingredients in a jar with a tight fitting lid. Shake well and store for up to 2 months in a cool dry place.
You can add 1 teaspoon of any or all of the following to customize your dry adobo: Ground cumin Dried citrus zest (orange, lemon, or lime) Saffron Achiote powder

Looks good! I definitely use the optional (in this recipe) addition of cumin. This seasoning makes a really good option for rajas (poblano strips) instead of the more traditional cream.

Can someone tell me what I bought.

Went to the grocery store to get the can of chipotle in adobo sauce and saw the jar of adobo and got it too. I haven't open it yet but looking through the jar it seems to be a paste like substance with oil on top.

EDIT: Is it as simple as it's just the sauce WITHOUT the chipotle?

Wayne, never saw just the Adobo sauce in the stores here. But prob yes, minus the chipotles. Now for that can of chipotles in Adobo you have there try this recipe out sometime. It goes great on burgers, dogs, chuck, and chuck rolls, corn on the cob, anything you want to wake up. I like to put it on one side of the bun, bottom side then drizzle some BBQ sauce on top of the pulled pork when eating a PP sammie. I just love the stuff.

I was beginning to think I was just an idiot for posting it....guess I'm not the only one that has never seen it!

Just read the linked recipe....wow, a whole cup of mayo....sounds great....might have to double the recipe if I want 2 sammies though!
