I picked up a Genesis 335 first gen special edition (with stainless steel components) from a friend for under $100 several years ago.. and have been using it. The lid started finally to give out, and I was looking at what or how to fix it, and came across this forum.
Someone said they have 25 year warranties, and they were right! Weber replaced the top and spent a good while via email troubleshooting other issues like the side burner (which has never worked, but does now).
So, instead of a $400 part, I got it fixed for free. Between that and swapping out all the internal consumables (burner tubes, reflectors, flavorizers), it's basically a brand new grill.
So, thank you kind sir or ma'am that made that suggestion. You have saved me some money. I'd grill you a virtual burger.
