Cleaning My Summit S-670

I was wondering what sort of "Periodic" cleaning/maintenance everybody does on their grills.
I just finished doing the S/S Grates and flavorizer bars in the sink with a S/S pad with moderate success,
but there is some burned on residue that is very stubborn.
I typically burn off the last 'grill' residue and brush the bars clean before starting a new cook, but thought
that I should do a little bit more from time to time.
any 'secret tricks' I need to know?

I am probably not the best person to address this topic since my maintenance plan is probably not what it should be. I try my best to do a periodic thorough cleaning. I would like to say I do this once a year, but it more like once every year or so. I do not do a thorough deep cleaning like some and take things apart. But what I do on my Summit is very similar to what you stated and remove the grates, flavorizer bars, and grease tray and clean them externally with Greased Lightning and some soft scrub pads that I get from the Dollar Store. I clean as much of the fire box as I can get clean without removing the burners. I really try to just get loose stuff brushed off and make sure I don’t have any grease built up anywhere. I have yet to find any grease anywhere other than the grease catch thanks in part to my daily use maintenance. As part of my daily maintenance during use, I do a good warm up on high and brush the grates clean. After the cook I turn the grill to high and brush the grates as clean as possible and let it burn at least five minutes before shutting down to carbonize any remaining crud or grease. I set the timer on my phone for five minutes so I don't forget to go back outside and turn it off. (Don't ask why I learned to do that!) I personally feel that with the stainless steel parts inside the firebox of the Summit, I stand a greater chance of screwing stuff up pulling it apart than the threat of any damage caused by corrosion if I leave it alone. Told you I was probably not the right person to address this. LOL
