Can connect to WIFI with new sad card

I downloaded the latest firmware after filling in my WiFi network settings, and used the windows tool to write the image to a 32g sandisk micro-sd card. Plugged it into the Raspberry Pi and powered the heater meter on. It comes up and displays ok, but never connected to my WiFi. I’m sure I configured the credentials right. When I put the SD card in the windows computer it wants to format the drive. So I can’t look at the config file. Any suggestions?

First, change the title to "Can't connect to WiFi with new SD card" for possibly better response. Also, the card is partitioned so that one partition is readable in Windows and the file you need to edit is in that partition. It's been years since I've done it but I believe the file is wpa_supplicant.conf. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge will chime in here.

I made a bunch of typos in this post because I was on my phone. I didn't see a way to edit the title so I created a new with a better explanation of the problem. the SD card doesn't have a valid partition that Windows recognizes as far as I can see. Thanks for responding. Looks like this forum is pretty dead. Its been ages since I worked on this. I figured it out before so maybe I'll get it from reading the instructions more.
