I've always been jealous of the the gas starter in the Performer, so I decided to build my own...

Not sure what the final version will be yet, might try to build it into the stone wall or so.

The regulator is a standard shop bought one like this:

The valve with the blue knob on the pictures was nicked from a Paella burner I had lying around.

Is that an actual Weber tube? In the Performer, theslit is facing up. The Weber tube also has a place to mount the ignitor as well.

Looks like it works fine, but homeamde stuff like this adds a bit of danger to the equation.

Nothing Weber, it's just a piece of steel tube I had. I put the slits on the sides in order to avoid charcoal bits dropping into the tube.

I like.

Next is a pipe that fits into the bottom of a kettle to turn a One-touch into a Performer.

Any pointers on how I might fashion a pipe/steel tube to do this?
