any practical difference between an air (pit) probe and meat probe?

Good evening,

I replaced the dome/dial thermometer with the thermoworks air/pit probe a while back. But I also want to play around and measure temps at the grill. I've got more thermoworks meat probes than I actually use. Is there a reason not to use one of those at the grill level. I can mount it pretty rigidly an inch or two above the grills so I'm not concerned about that.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Nope, they are identical internally, well, same parts anyway. The meat probes have smaller tips so they theoretically react a little more quickly to temperature changes, but practically there's no difference in performance I think. I have both as well and ran some tests with both side by side on the grill and they showed the same variations.
