I just got my CB Stainless door and tried a fit. Much to my disappointment, it was worse off than my OEM door. I thought about sending it back, but the shipping to and from would end up being close to the price of the door, so I decided to try to fit it.
After going at it for a while with my dead blow hammer and sand bag, I realized something. I realized that I wasn't fitting a misshapen door, but rather fitting a door to a misshapen opening. After realizing that, I wished I had some body work experience to make working on the body of the 22" WSM a little less stressful.
I don't know whether the opening was cut before the flat sheet was rolled into a barrel shape or if the opening was cut after the barrel was made. Whichever it was, the opening was deformed and doesn't quite follow the roundness of the barrel, especially along the lip of the opening.
So, any hints or tips from those with body shop experience?
