Adding Pellets into Lump or Briquettes

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) using pellets as the smoking wood in a Kettle (or my case Summit Kamado) instead of larger chunks?

I have a bag of pellets still kicking around when I was trying to get better smoke from my Broil King Keg, and instead of tossing them, was thinking of trying again with the new WSK...but, I don't want to do down a road and ruin a roast it is known not to work well. It seems so tempting to sprinkle them around for even smoke over time.

Sure -- pellets work fine as a smoke boost in any kind of grill -- charcoal, gas. Even in pellet grills.

The main challenge is that pellets burn up easier/faster than chips/chunks do. So you have to do something extra to keep them all from burning up quickly as what you would do with chips or chunks.

Like using a pellet smoker tube or maze (best method imo). Or putting the foil pouch smoke bomb up on the cooking grate. With chips, most people would put the pouch down on the hot coals.
