The vent mounted TelTru thermometer slipped out, struck the ground and now has a broken lens that the manufacturer states costs more to repair than to replace. So, I plan mount the replacement in a permanent fashion. It requires using the stepped drill, the IRWIN UNIBIT #4. Should this bit be operated at high speed or low speed when drilling into the dome of my WSM?

Be sure to put some masking tape over the area to be drilled to prvent any chip out. Let the bit do the work. Good luck.

You can buy the new WSM stock weber thermo $9 plus bezel... it takes a 3/8" hole

I replaced my tel-tru with one and love it...very accurate, better looking, and easier to read at a glance because 225* is straight up at 12 o'clock

When I installed the new replacement TelTru,I positioned the dial such that 225F points straight up, and then I fastened the nut tightly.
