I recently restored my 6th SSP. It has been 7 or 8 years since I last restored one.
One part that has always bothered me with these grills is the bottom shelf. It is always dirty and rusty and not fun to clean and nearly impossible to de-rust.
I've designed and printed a replacement shelf for the SSP. This has been in use less than a week, time will tell ho well it holds up.
I had to break it into three parts as my printer has a 360x360mm printing bed. 360mm is the largest dimension on these pieces. I will it was larger so I could wrap the shelf around the front of the rails like it is on frame ends.
One end is designed to accommodate one of the 2 style of tank holders. I have one coming for the other style, but, haven't printed and test fit one yet.
The corners are notched to accomodate the Frame Rail caps:
With a larger printer, I think the caps would've been part of the shelf.

One of the problem areas on these grill is the joint where the Frame Rails bolt to the Frames.
This time around, I decided to improve this area of the grill.
I designed and 3D printed some caps to cover these joints to keep the rail out.
If you have the LPG Tank, you will need one for that location to bolt the bottom of the tank holder to the frame/rail.
These just press fit and seem to stay put as if snapped on. A little VHB tape would hold them down securely...

Weber SSP Frame Rail Caps by ChapinPL
These are to protect the SSP frame rail joints from water. These joints are notorious for rusting out. This is one of the areas that leads to the demise of otherwise great grills.
