Have any of you purchased a 26" Weber and when you went to assemble it the lid was not shaped correcly?
The past couple months we've had a couple 26" grills come in and the lid is slightly egg-shaped instead of being a circle. So it doesnt fit snug on the bowl.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this before. The boxes didn't appear to be damaged either. Very strange.

Yeah, I hugged it a little until I was satisfied with the fit. It still leaked pretty good, but after several smokes it's pretty normal now.

Worse comes to worse if you mess with it and it's still not to your liking, call weber they might send you a new lid.

Thanks, good to know our store wasn't the only one to get a lopsided one. The two were pretty bad, but our rep just sent us new lids.

This was really just a general question. These were a couple grills we built for customers at the Ace I work at. Just thought it was strange b/c Weber's are almost always free from defect.

I can't seem to find it, but I thought I remembered reading a post here about the lids being made just barely out of round, purposely, so that it was easier to move into the lid catcher position...when I got mine it was like this as well, but I liked the fact that it just sort of slid off to the side and I didn't have to lift, because with the added weight that would get pretty annoying pretty fast. The downside was of course a less than perfect seal, though.

I had to tweak mine just a little, took about 5 mins total time to fit like a glove.
Going to mount my 26er like a performer.

What do you have in mind?

That's interesting and I've never heard of that. We've only seen 2 of about 50+ come thru with the egg shaped lids. These could not have been done on purpose. When you try to place the lid on the bowl there was about a 1-2 inch gap on each side of the grill, no seal at all.

The new lids that came in were perfect and fit like a glove!
