I did a lid handle and probe grommet mod to my 26 3/4" OTG.
The probe grommet is the same as I did on my small OTG and WSMs.

For the grommet, I used a 3/4" long piece of 1/4" of electrical running thread, which is 1/4" ID, and 1/2" OD, with 2 locknuts and a plumbing pipe cap.
I bought a lid handle from Weber and mounted on the side of the lid.
I put blue painter's tape over the location of the holes and laid them out. I started with a small drill bit and worked my way up to the target size.
The lid is much easier to maneuver with the second handle.
I saw the handle mod, in post on another board. I don't know when or where, but thanks to the OP.
