Gd luck Darnell, when i smoke on my otg i leave the bottom vents 100% open and control temps with the lid vent, have tried it both ways and have found that controlling with the lid damper is a lot easier and more consistent, 1/2 open damper runs around 275-325, 1/4 runs around 230-275, them temps can be tweaked by just moving the damper very little either way can really dial in on target temp, and i also use the weber charcoal holders, start out with a full holder with 4 lit coals, try it out see what u think works for me
