Question about DIY ATC

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum. The other DIY forum on ATCs looks like it's specific to the HeaterMeter. So I thought I would check here. I'm building an ATC with an InkBird PID controller. I mounted a small, stainless bowl that I bought to my bottom air intake and drilled a hole into it so that my fan would fit directly into that hole. My question is - will it get too hot and melt my fan? Or would I need some sort of buffer between the 2 like the Pitmaster IQ's tube?
