and was looking for meat to make paninis with. Ham portions in 2-5# packages were $5.99/lb, but spiral sliced was $0.99/lb. I got a 10# spiral sliced (cooked) ham, figure I'll vac bag & freeze a bunch.

Makes me wonder what the heck they're thinking.
 
They're thinking $$$$. Making lots of money on "convenience". Ever check out bulk prices for some of your spices compared to the bottled selection on the shelves?
 
Kim and I have bought black forest ham at Costco many times and cut it for lunchmeat in our slicer at about a $3.00 per pound savings.
