So I know nothing about automatic temperature controls - why isn't there a sticky?

Like it says in the title, I don't know anything about these things. I was more curious about why there isn't a summary of information about them. So many of the posts seem to be either packed with too much specialize information, or simply say buy a Guru (whatever that is), the company is great and it will do everything that you want. I don't even know what I want.

Perhaps there is a post that summarizes my options, if so, please point me to it. I looked around the the virtualweber site and didn't see anything there. If I had to guess, I would say that there is one or two commercial options, and a homebuilt option.

I have a feeling that I am just missing something here.

Brett, what Timothy just posted; but you may also want to tell folks what kind of smoker(s) you have, and how much control you need - there are many different styles and levels of ATC hardware out there....
