Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Can someone print me one of these? I already have one, need another, but friend's printer is broken. Please send price and approximate lead time. Thanks!

PiTunnel. A new option for remotely connecting to HeaterMeter?

I have a ATT Uverse Residential Gateway as the modem/router. I know my way around networking equipment pretty well, but ATT has this router locked down making most normal changes difficult. This is why I was interested in the PiTunnel. I do have a public IP and it rarely changes. The problem...

PiTunnel. A new option for remotely connecting to HeaterMeter?

I saw this today on TechCrunch: PiTunnel connects your Raspberry Pi to the world. https://techcrunch.com/2017/12/06/pitunnel-connects-your-raspberry-pi-to-the-world/ Just wondering if any of you who are more tech savvy than me figure this would be a way to connect to HM even if no static IP or...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Hey Scott, I have a Primo Kamado, (Round Smoker) and the default HeaterMeter settings work just fine for me. The fan runs very little once the temperature of the grill gets to the set point. Since your grill is larger, I would think your fan would run a little more, but not excessively. My guess...

new build - fan not working - any way to test it?

Yes, that did the trick, no need to remove damper wheel. Cooking a chicken now. I'm completely amazed at what the Heatermeter is capable of. My old grill thermometer was almost 80° off. My hat is totally off to Brian for the work he has put into this useful device. :wsm:

new build - fan not working - any way to test it?

Thank you both. I will try the adjustment before I re-position the servo arm.

new build - fan not working - any way to test it?

Okay, thanks, I may try to move the servo arm on the gear a tooth and see what happens, if it doesn't close fully then I may tinker with the Servo Pulse Durations. Maybe I can find the settings and figure out how to configure.

new build - fan not working - any way to test it?

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if I could just remove the top and re-position it on the servo gear splines? It looks like it is moving plenty, it goes past the "open" position. Not sure what it does on the closed position.

new build - fan not working - any way to test it?

Never mind. I realized I had made a bad RJ-45 connector crimp at the heatermeter end. :( But working now! :) One thing I noticed was when the heatermeter turned on just testing in the house, the servo snaps open almost to the most wide position. That is, not quite completely open, but almost...

new build - fan not working - any way to test it?

My new build has a non working fan as well. I checked and have 12v to the fan from the heatermeter. I'm guessing a bad fan as well?

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

I think I may have printed the MG90 parts the first time. Now that I have the SG90 servo, I am getting my friend to print the SG90 parts. Thanks!

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

I asked my old boss to reprint the servo housing and top. I'll see if those parts work. If not, then I may try one of the forum members to buy some parts from.

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

After receiving the TowerPro servo, I have discovered the damper print is not correct since the new ones fit the same as the servo I already tried. I did a little dremel tool work to see if I could make it fit, but to no avail. I hate to ask my friend, (old boss!) to print another part for me...

New build, could use some troubleshooting help!

Those batteries are also specced for burglar alarm panels. I had not thought of using one of those, but I have several that I use to power game cameras. I usually pay around $16 shipped for good ones. They recharge easily using a wall-wart charger. I don't have an outlet for the heatermeter...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

I was able to fabricate a very nice plate for my Egg using two small pieces of what I would assume is metal roof flashing that I bought from Home Depot. A 1 1/4" hole saw drilled though both pieces and the nipple threaded into the plate. I used two lock nuts to sandwich the plate to the nipple...

The servo should fit in the housing more flush than the picture I posted, is that correct?

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Thanks for the reply, I will look at the dimensions of the TowerPro servos and see if they are taller than the ones that I have.

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

I had a couple of working R/C servos sitting around and decided to use one for the microdamper. Trouble is I cannot get the servo to fit into the servo housing far enough to get the gear to connect with the plastic actuator on the top of the servo housing. Am I missing something? The servo I am...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Thank you Bryan, I had thought I needed to move the damper much further away from the heat, but closer mounted makes for a much neater install.
