    Outside Winter Storage

Bought my Spirit early Spring this year (2017) 3 burner, stainless grates and flavorizer bars. I have the serious cover which goes to the floor and has straps to cinch it up at the bottom. It is heavy and is on a deck with not easy access. I actually put it together out there. If I were to...

    RiversEdge Flavorizer Bars

Exactly, and just because a stainless grade is ferritic doesn't make it necessarily inferior. When people say that steel that's magnetically attracticting couldn't be stainless (or all stainless), that's not true. Looked up prices of some grades per pound (this is in large quantities) - 430 =...

    Thanks, I did.

    RiversEdge Flavorizer Bars

Thanks for all the info. Interesting aside: Stainless grades are (obviously) application dependent. I work with saltwater marine parts where 304 stainless is considered junk. Only 316 is in all quality parts. Yet even 316, like most stainless grades, is not very resistant to any...

    RiversEdge Flavorizer Bars

One difference from the Weber bars is that these are cut square at the ends, whereas the original ones are cut at a diagonal - so the bottom is the same length but the top extends closer to the front/back wall of the firebox. I have no clue as to whether this is important.

    RiversEdge Flavorizer Bars

Has anyone bought aftermarket stainless steel bars from RiversEdge? Set of 5 for $28, and 16 ga instead of the 18 on the current Spirit grills. Lots of good reviews. I know Weber parts prices are sky high (I think $70-80 in this case), but this seems like too good a deal. Here's a listing on...

Use of multiple burners for small amount of food

Bear with me on this dumb question. I have recently graduated to a Spirit-SP310 from many years of Q's or kettles. The issue is managing the burners for a small amount of high-heat food. It says to preheat the grill with all the burners on high to 550 or so. Got it. But if I only have one...

New for 2017: Weber Genesis II Gas Grills

Local ACE has Genesis II side-by-side with existing Spirit line. Did a careful examination of materials, metal thickness etc. Came to the conclusion they were about the same. Bought a Spirit SP-310. Why spend the extra money on features (GS4?) I'm not sure I need.

    Hello from Mid-coast Maine

Jim from Maine. Now here's an environment bad for anything metal - salt air, fog, temperatures all over the place year around. Believe it or not had two Weber Qs last 10 years each. Finally bought a Spirit SP-310 - we'll see how it does. I mighty even fire it up in the Winter, no snow to...
