NG furnace vs modern heat pump

With a good ducted system installed it is really hard to justify installing new heads throughout a home. I would say MN will be one of the last to transfer out of NG. It's too dang cold for heat pumps to perform properly. Rochester internationally airport design day is -9F. Remember the...

NG furnace vs modern heat pump

What brand and when did you get three heat pumps and 7 heads for $2500? That seems crazy low. I'm a PM for a mech contractor as well as mechanical engineer. I will say our company seems to lean towards the Mitsubishi/Trane systems and I know they are very proud of them when they send invoices...

    Fan with 0,36 A only draw 0,11 A

Did you increase the size of any ductwork intake or venting capabilities of the smoker to account for double the air volume?

    Fan with 0,36 A only draw 0,11 A

0.36a is the max amp draw. Not the constant amp draw. This amp draw will occur normally at the maximum amount of airflow with the least air flow resistance. Add enough air flow resistance and the amp draw would get less. It's moving less air and doing less work. Do you have a fan curve for...

    I'm a Heatermeter Nerd

I literally put my smoker up this afternoon and saw the cluster of wires and heater meter parts and thought.... Man, I need to do something to store all this stuff better. Your setup looks good! Thanks for your contributions to this community!

Wood Kiln - tangentially related to Heatermeter

Water heater elements would be a bad idea. They would burn up because the air wouldn't conduct heat away from the surface of the element as fast as water would. The infrared would not be good at heating all the surfaces of the wood. Think lizard on a rock, the infrared lamp mainly heats the...

    Trouble Connecting to WIFI

Hmm. Quickly out of my realm of expertise. Reformatting will erase the card and all is contents. Then you would have to download the firmware for the heater meter source code and load it back onto the SD card after it is reformatted. If I recall correctly the first time you load a...

    Trouble Connecting to WIFI

Gosh. What a way to remember a friend. So sorry for your loss. You need to put the SD card into your computer and open up the coding to edit the password and wifi address inside the heater meter code. Whatever WiFi you want it to log into you type it out it exactly in the blanks. Be sure you...

Large fan won't start at low power

I am not of any help but knew exactly what you are up against. One possibility would be to use a relay or SSR for the larger fans. One with personal experience would be better off to provide some insight for you though.

Free Heatermeter 4.3 Thermocouple Case available

I'd take it! My case is wonky and the two sides doesn't seat well together. I think it warped when printing. PM me if it is still available!

    The Ring of Fire

One of my most favorite things about the heatermeter is being inspired by others work to make something better. A long time ago someone had an "air burner" system made of copper pipe underneath the charcoal grate. I thought it would be cool to not have to deal with the ash falling down around...
